Using your phone remotely

If you need to work Removeremotely, you have a few options when it comes to answering and making phone calls.

For staff with Avaya phones

(DESC, Lifelong Learning and select Youth Ed staff that handle credit cards).  You can have your phone number forwarded to your cell phone.  To do this, please call 801-581-4000 and select option 2.  A phone service coordinator can forward your phone so you can receive calls.

For staff with Polycom (Skype for Business) phones.

You can forward your office phone to your cell phone.  But the easiest way to take and make your office phone calls from anywhere is to install the Skype for Business app on your smart phone or tablet (iPad or Android).  It works really well if you have a good WIFI connection, like Uconnect or your Home WIFI.

You can get the Skype for Business App from the App Store for iPhones and Google Play Store on your Android phone.

Once you have installed the Skype for Business App on your smart phone, you can follow the directions in the attached Skype for Business Productivity Guides.  You only need to complete the instructions on the page “[Signing into |]Skype for Business for the first time” and you are ready to take calls when people call your office number.  To make calls, select the dial pad icon in the upper right corner of the screen and dial.

If you just want to have your office phone forwarded to your cell phone, see the attached call forwarding guide for instructuons.

If you have any questions or need assistance configuring the Skype for Business app on your smart phone call us at 801-581-3200 or send an email to ce-it@utah.edu for assistance.  Please include a number to call you back.
